Caretaker | Friendly Primary School | Salford

A thriving secondary school in Salford is seeking a Caretaker to join the premises team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with caretaking, maintenance, or facilities experience who enjoys practical work and wants to make a real contribution to the smooth running of a busy school.

The Role

Working as part of the premises team, you'll help ensure the school remains safe, secure, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include:

• Opening and locking the school site

• Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs

• Completing routine health and safety inspections

• Maintaining the school buildings and outdoor areas

• Preparing classrooms and halls for school events

• Supporting contractors and monitoring site access

• Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with site compliance

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be reliable, organised, and confident working independently while managing a varied workload.

Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Premises Assistant, Facilities Assistant, or Maintenance Operative is desirable. Experience within a school setting would be beneficial but is not essential for candidates with relevant transferable skills.

Salary & Benefits

• £29,000–£33,000 per annum (depending on experience)
