Job Description - Casting Producer / Assistant Producer Whisper North

Whisper is a leading global production company, specialising in sports, unscripted and branded entertainment.

Whisper North is looking for an experienced Casting Producer / Assistant Producer to work on a range of studio game shows.
 
The role will involve sourcing and screening potential contestants through auditions and interviews to find engaging, charismatic participants who are the perfect fit for our various upcoming studio game shows.


 


You will manage the full casting process from initial outreach through to final selection, working closely with the wider production team to ensure a diverse and compelling lineup for each episode.
 


Casting experience across a range of studio gameshows essential.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Working closely with the Executive Producer on all casting issues



  • Talent Outreach: Actively scout, source, and recruit contributors using industry contacts and creative advertising.

  • Auditions & Interviews: Conduct initial screening calls, lead auditions, and interview applicants to gauge their on-screen suitability, personality, and storytelling potential.

  • Due Diligence: Perform thorough background checks via Lexis Nexis, including vetting social media, to flag potential controversies and ensure editorial safety.

  • Pitching Contributor Stories: Compile detailed biographies, pitch notes, and video highlight reels of top candidates to present to executive producers and network commissioners.

  • Compliance & Welfare: Strictly enforce duty of care protocols, safeguarding and data protection regulations (GDPR)

Skills and Experience:



  • Casting Experience on broadcast studio game shows is essential

  • Storytelling & Editorial Judgment: An intuitive eye for what makes a compelling character

  • Networking: An extensive contacts book and the ability to build rapport quickly with people

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of broadcasting standards, diversity guidelines, and compliance.

  • Team Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring junior members of the team, such as casting researchers and assistant producers

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Strong team ethic and the ability to prioritise workloads with ease, working in a pressurised team environment

  • Ability to work effectively with others and manage relationships

  • Ability to manage workload

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads



Location:


Whisper Office, Salford 



Working Days:


Five-day work week, with four days in the office and one day working from home.


Some flexibility is required, including occasional weekend work depending on production needs.


Lieu days will be given for any additional days worked.


Flexitime is available, subject to production requirements.
