Be part of our journey...

Location: St Mary’s Stadium & Staplewood Training Campus
Department: Safety & Security
Reports to: Safety & Security Manager
Contract Type: Casual
Salary: Competitive hourly rate

About Us:

At Southampton Football Club, we pride ourselves on being more than just a football club. Whether it's matchday at St Mary’s Stadium or a training day at Staplewood, we aim to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all staff, players, supporters, and visitors. As a Casual Safety & Security Officer, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to ensuring that every individual who interacts with the club has a safe and positive experience.

The Role:

As a Casual Safety & Security Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a high standard of safety and security across both St Mary’s Stadium and our Staplewood Training Campus. You will be expected to operate in a professional manner, responding quickly and effectively to incidents, ensuring the safety of all individuals, and protecting club assets.

From delivering top-level protection during League and Academy fixtures, to managing high-profile concerts, boxing and darts nights, and exclusive hospitality events — no two days are the same.

Whether at our iconic stadium or our world-class training campus, you’ll be part of a professional, dynamic team safeguarding one of the South Coast’s most prestigious sporting and entertainment venues.

This is a flexible role suitable for individuals seeking casual work on matchdays, training sessions, and ad-hoc events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible and professional security presence across club sites.
  • Monitor crowd movement and behaviour, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of fans, staff, and players.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, reporting and recording as necessary.
  • Conduct bag and person searches in line with club procedures.
  • Operate access control systems and monitor CCTV (if qualified).
  • Support the matchday operation, including pre- and post-event security checks.
  • Assist with traffic management and parking control where required.
  • Collaborate with other departments, emergency services, and stakeholders to uphold safety standards.
  • Ensure all club policies, including safeguarding and health & safety, are adhered to.

Essential Criteria:

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence
  • Valid Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively.
  • A strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check prior to starting.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence.
  • Previous experience in a stadium or high-footfall event environment.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding principles in a sporting environment.

Additional Information:

This role requires flexibility and commitment to working as part of a casual pool of staff. Shifts are typically scheduled around matchdays, training events, and other operational requirements. Relevant training will be provided.

How to Apply:

If you’re passionate about safety, security, and delivering exceptional service, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to join the Southampton FC team and help us maintain a safe and secure environment for all.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and we expect everyone to share this commitment. You will be required to adhere to all relevant policies and uphold the Club’s commitment to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk and to ensure that Southampton Football Club is free from discrimination and harassment.

The post holder will demonstrate a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, supporting the organisation’s strategic aims to remove barriers and address inequality. You will play an active role in promoting an inclusive, discrimination-free environment that ensures fair access to opportunities and resources. This includes fostering a culture of dignity, respect, and belonging where everyone is empowered to contribute, perform, and reach their full potential.
