CAT Color & Materials - 12M FTC

This is a broad reaching role that requires extensive experience and knowledge of the footwear creation process – from research to ideation to design and development. Although the role lies squarely within the Lifestyle PD team, roles and responsibilities will be varied, covering many aspects of the product creation process, but with a particular focus on colour and materials application on product and communicating these to our overseas sourcing partners.

The ability to analyse and understand footwear fashion trends; gathering insights through varied research methods to inform the design, colour and finishing of footwear product within the Work Group Lifestyle Footwear Design team is essential.

Paying close attention to evolving global consumer needs, understanding the motives and preferences that drive their decision-making and infusing that knowledge into the product creation and finishing process will be critical to the success of our product.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply colour to (predominantly CAT, but possibly HD) product CADs using a defined colour palette; working alongside and assisting the Colour & Trend Design Lead – with a leaning towards Men’s product colour application (but not exclusively).
• Understand the needs and nuances of our global consumers – creating product colour & materials solutions to meet specific regional needs and seasonal and counter-seasonal demands.
• Work closely with the VP PD in the generation and maintenance of seasonal product specs for specific milestones.
• Understand product builds, colour & materials opportunities as well as cost constraints and make appropriate choices to include in specs
• Ensure colour CAD archives are updated for each seasonal milestone; generating a final and definitive colour overview for each season for future reference.
• Communicate regularly with the Asia-based Sourcing team to ensure specs are received, edited and updated accordingly and as necessary.
• Prepare presentations and present Product Design, Colour & Trend direction in key meetings.
• Collaborate and communicate with brand team partners – PLM, Marketing - on key initiatives where necessary, contributing to seasonal ideation and assortment planning.
• Create designs for Men’s and Women’s footwear as and when required – to include boots, shoes, sandals and socks for all brands.
• Provide creative input and design support on special initiatives such as external collaborations and themed-story collections.
