Catastrophic Loss Legal Director/Partner

Your new company
Our client is a well-established full-service defendant law firm. They have offices nationwide and are currently considering Legal Directors/Partners to join their Catastrophic Loss department. The firm is open to either the Manchester or Liverpool offices.

Your new role
This Catastrophic Loss Legal Director/Partner role will see you responsible for:

• Lead on the defence of complex, high-value catastrophic injury claims, often exceeding £1 million in value.
• Provide strategic advice to insurer clients on liability, quantum, and litigation risk.
• Oversee all aspects of case progression, including drafting, disclosure, expert evidence, and settlement negotiations.
• Act as a key point of contact for major insurer clients, fostering long-term relationships, delivering high-quality client service and ensuring alignment with client expectations and service level agreements.
• Attend client meetings, case reviews, and industry events as a representative of the firm.
• Supervise and mentor junior solicitors, associates, and paralegals within the catastrophic loss team.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the firm's catastrophic loss offering.
• Contribute to tenders, pitches, and marketing initiatives.
• Maintain a strong professional network and raise the firm's profile in the insurance sector.
• Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, firm policies, and client protocols.

What you'll need to succeed
You must be a qualified solicitor with a minimum of 8 years PQE within defendant catastrophic loss. Strong leadership, mentoring and team management skills are essential. Previous existing Partner or Legal Director experience is preferable, but strong Senior Associates looking to take the next step in their career are encouraged to apply. Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities are required. Those looking for a Partner-level role must be able to demonstrate strong connections with insurer clients.
