Category Buyer

Global FMCG manufacturer requires a Category Buyer. The role focuses on, tendering, negotiations and contract management. Applications from direct and indirect procurement professionals, welcomed.

The Category Buyer will join a successful and high-performing procurement team and will be responsible for providing strategic and operational procurement service to the business. The role represents a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Buyer looking to continue developing their career and gaining greater exposure to; negotiations, running tenders and managing suppliers/contracts.

Specific duties of the Category Buyer include:

• Supply market intelligence activities across a range of spend areas; direct material for manufacturing, indirects and packaging
• Participate in RFPs, tenders, and internal/external audits.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives and negotiate contracts to drive value
• Manage supplier relationships, holding regular performance and innovation review meetings.
• Contract management and monitoring of contract performance
• Administer purchase orders, resolve invoice discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
• Support process improvement initiatives in the procurement function and look to leverage procurement technology to drive efficiencies

Category Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous procurement experience in a manufacturing or FMCG business
• Ability to add commercial value to the team - negotiate contracts, manage tenders, supplier relationships and contracts
• Excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills - understand internal requirements
• Experience with procurement/e-sourcing tools, P2P, MRP,ERP etc.
• Ambitious, proactive, positive and motivated self-starter
