Butler Rose is proud to be partnered with a renowned manufacturing client in the Plymouth area to recruit a dynamic Category Lead to join their Procurement team. This is an opportunity to play a key role within a highly respected organisation recognised for engineering excellence and innovation.

About the Role:

As Category Lead, you will be instrumental in shaping and delivering category strategies for direct or indirect spend portfolios valued between £30m and £50m. Reporting to the Head of Category Management, you'll lead end-to-end Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Requisition-to-Pay (R2P) activities that deliver tangible value and mitigate risk across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of strategic category plans aligned to business and NPD needs.
• Deliver sourcing and contracting strategies that drive both hard and soft benefits.
• Negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure compliance with procurement policies and performance standards.
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Finance, and Design to optimise value and ensure supply continuity.
• Monitor KPIs including savings, contract coverage, and supplier performance metrics.

What We're Looking For:

• A minimum of 5 years' proven experience in procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with expertise in procurement, supply chain operations, and supplier negotiations.
• Proficiency in ERP/S2P systems and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word).
• CIPS qualification and/or relevant degree in Business or Engineering.
• A confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
