Category Manager for Food

Quest Search and Selection is currently looking for Category Manager for Food. This role is to help develop our Dutch grocery assortment, with a focus on either Snacking, Fresh, Seasonal, Grocery & Confectionery, or Ambient categories. Play a key role in curating the best product selection at the most competitive prices.

The business is for a retail e-commerce platform with operations in the UK & Europe, who is currently growing their FMCG category team! The roles & responsibilities of this Category Manager for Food role:

• Contribute to the full category management process for either Snacking, Fresh, Seasonal, Grocery & Confectionery, or Ambient categories.
• Support the Senior Category Manager in building and maintaining strategic relationships with both national and local suppliers.
• Analyse performance data and range gaps to develop actionable strategies for enhancing supplier effectiveness and category growth.
• Track and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and minimise out-of-stocks.
• Assist in planning and executing robust sales strategies, including pricing models and promotional initiatives.
• Help shape long-term, market-relevant category strategies aimed at driving customer acquisition, retention, and key category KPIs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, app development, and marketing teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience

The qualifications of this Category Manager for Food Role:

• Ideally having 3 plus years' experience in branded buying within the FMCG sector, ideally with exposure to eCommerce in food categories.
• Dutch speaking is essential with strong communication skills across cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Know the localise food market, suppliers and range, localised food patterns open to category.
• Ideally have bought for multiple food categories
• Strong understanding of consumer behavior, market dynamics, and purchasing trends.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for data and a structured, logical approach to problem-solving.
• Highly motivated, innovative, and collaborative, with a strong commitment to contributing to broader business objectives.
