Night shift - Monday to Thursday - 6.30pm to 5.30am

SF Engineering are recruiting for a Chargehand to join our established manufacturing client based in Stoke-on-Trent. The Galvanising Chargehand role is to assist the Finishing Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the Finishing Department to ensure the night shift runs safely and efficiently whilst, ensuring resources are utilised to their maximum potential.

Chargehand Key Duties & Tasks:
- Ensure all employees are wearing their PPE whilst in working areas
- Ensure the work on the production schedule is cleared within the normal shift hours
- Mentor inexperienced employees
- Ensure the working area is free from clutter and that safe systems of work are being followed
- Advise on appropriate safe method of unloading materials
- Reporting any problems or accidents to senior management
- Supervise the loading of zinc / other alloys into the bath
- Ensure coating plant employees use appropriate lifting aids where applicable
- Ensure employees working at height are tethered whilst working on the booth
- Problem solving if issues arise with capacity/breakdowns

General:
- Adhere at all times to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental instructions and requirements.
- Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.

Chargehand Specification:

Education & Qualifications:
- 3 GCSE's or equivalent including Maths and English
Skills, knowledge & Experience:
- Pro-active approach to work
- Good organisational skills
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
