The job in a nutshell
To assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the highest standards in a clean, tidy, safe, and pleasant environment. To also assist in the smooth running of kitchen with direction from more senior members of the kitchen brigade.

What you will do
- Assist in the day to day running of a section and deputise for the Chef d’Partie in their absence and deliver high quality food standards.
- Assist in the ordering, storage and management of all food items and ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Consistently strive for high standards of food production and cleanliness in the workplace and always try to improve and innovate.
- Ensure you follow the rules set by the company, regarding hygiene, stock rotation, dating, storage, temperature control of refrigerators, pest control, reporting of faulty equipment.
- Reporting of notifiable diseases, reporting of absenteeism be it due to sickness or otherwise.
- Contribute to the production of quality daily and seasonal changing dishes and menus.
- Ensure all responsible cleaning, tidying and welfare of the kitchen and surrounding areas is carried out effectively and to a high-quality standard, while controlling the use, issue, and care of all cleaning materials and equipment to maximise benefit and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure consistency of food quality and presentation. Attend briefings as required.
- Keep recipes in good order and up to date when necessary. Work to agreed recipes.
- Help to prevent waste of food of any kind and over-production to mis-en-place. Keep food ordering to a minimum. Help to minimise the consumption of gas, electricity, and water.
- Follow and comply with company policies in place regarding Food Safety and allergens
- Observe and follow the guidelines and principles set out by the company.
- Consult with other chefs where there are issues for concern or where clarity is needed and comply with statutory and contractual requirements regarding the workplace.
- Undertake any other duty and responsibility consistent with the role.

What you will bring to the role
Your Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
- Formal culinary training/qualification.
- Professional experience from high-quality, fine dining establishments.
- Strong knowledge of, and interest in, European and British cooking.
- Ability to work with fine ingredients and prepare from scratch.
- Clear communication skills.
- Able to work consistently well under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
- Able to undertake a physically demanding role in hot conditions.
- Able to work positively within a team and with confidence to delegate tasks to relevant members of the kitchen brigade when required.
- A flexible approach to working hours, according to events timetable and kitchen rota.
- Excellent understanding of, and compliance with, Food Hygiene standards, and willingness to undertake relevant training.
