3-month contract role with a local authority







Summary







  • This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority focused on promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. The position involves leading and coordinating child protection processes, chairing Child Protection Conferences, and ensuring robust multi-agency planning for children at risk of significant harm. This role is crucial in ensuring that the welfare and safety of children are prioritised and that all safeguarding processes are effectively managed.







Responsibilities








  • Chair Initial Child Protection Conferences, Review Child Protection Conferences, and other safeguarding meetings as required.

  • Ensure decisions relating to children at risk of significant harm are safe, evidence-based, and compliant with statutory guidance.

  • Oversee the development and review of Child Protection Plans to ensure they are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound.

  • Monitor safeguarding arrangements and ensure effective multi-agency planning for children and families.

  • Ensure that the child's welfare, lived experience, and voice remain central to all safeguarding processes.









Requirements:










  • Essential Experience Required



    • Substantial post-qualification experience in statutory children's social care.

    • Experience managing complex child protection and safeguarding cases.

    • Experience chairing multi-agency safeguarding meetings and conferences.

    • Experience working with children at risk of significant harm.








  • Essential Qualifications Required



      Social Work qualification recognised by Social Work England.




    • Current registration with Social Work England.




    • Evidence of continued professional development in safeguarding and child protection.




Additional Information









  • Working hours: 35 hours per week.

  • The role requires Enhanced DBS - Children's Barred List.

  • Interview date may change but it will be in person at Elwood Street, Islington, London N5 1EB.

  • Work pattern: 80% office-based to conduct meetings as and when required.

  • Bi-weekly work schedule.

  • The role closes on 16th August 2026, apply ASAP.
