Job Description - Children Residential Deputy Manager

Deputy Officer In Charge

  • Hours per Week: 37
  • Grade: £35,235 - £39,513

Join our team at the Children's Home in Cardiff as a Deputy Officer In Charge. This role is pivotal in assisting the Manager to oversee the administration and management of the children's homes, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and council policies. The successful candidate will deputise in the Manager's absence and help maintain high standards of care and support for children and young people.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing the children's homes in line with statutory legislation and council policies.
  • Ensure that each young person has a personal plan that reflects their assessed needs and outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of candour and transparency, ensuring young people's social, medical, psychological, and educational needs are met.
  • Manage and support the staff team, including recruitment, training, and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the development of new policies and procedures.
  • Organize staff rotas to meet service needs and manage delegated budgets effectively.
  • Coordinate and chair meetings, promoting inclusion and achieving objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Considerable experience working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other relevant legislation.
  • Proven senior-level experience in a residential environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, inspire, and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in IT.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales and holds a full valid driving licence with sole use of a vehicle.
