Children's Home Deputy Manager

About the Home

We are a well-established 2–3 bed EBD children’s home in Ilford with a Good Ofsted rating and a stable, experienced management team already in place. The home provides a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, focusing on stability, progress, and positive outcomes.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and safeguarding. You’ll lead and motivate a strong staff team, contribute to care planning, and help maintain the home’s positive culture and Ofsted standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Registered Manager with daily operations and leadership

* Ensure the home remains fully compliant with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations

* Lead, supervise, and develop staff to maintain a high-performing team

* Oversee care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies

* Promote a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive

* Participate in on-call duties as part of the management rota

* Build positive relationships with young people, staff, families, and external agencies

Requirements

* Experience working in a children’s residential home (EBD preferred)

* Supervisory or leadership experience (Senior Support Worker / Team Leader level or above)

* Strong understanding of safeguarding, regulations, and Ofsted expectations

* NVQ Level 3 Children & Young People (required)

* NVQ Level 5 Leadership & Management (desirable or willingness to work towards)
