Job Description - Children's Residential Support Worker
Bright Star Talent is currently recruiting experienced and compassionate Children’s Residential Support Workers to work within a residential setting in Lichfield (WS14), supporting children and young people.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with previous experience working with children and young people with complex needs who are confident providing a safe, stable and supportive environment.
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will:
* Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people within the residential setting.
* Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with the young people in your care.
* Support children with their emotional, social and behavioural needs.
* Encourage independence, confidence and the development of essential life skills.
* Support young people with daily routines, appointments, education and activities.
* Manage challenging behaviour calmly and appropriately, following individual care and behaviour support plans.
* Maintain a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and relevant documentation.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately.
* Work closely with colleagues, social workers, families and other professionals involved in each young person’s care.
* Promote positive outcomes and ensure the wellbeing of each child remains at the centre of your work.
What we’re looking for:
* Previous experience working within children’s residential care or a similar setting is essential.
* Previous experience within social work, youth work, care or support work is highly desirable.
* A good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
* Confidence supporting children who may display challenging or complex behaviours.
* A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Flexibility and availability to work 24-hour shifts.
* Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People or a similar area would be advantageous.
