Role: Children’s Services Worker

Salary: £25,949 per annum

Location:  Aylesbury, High Wycombe, and surrounding areas of Buckinghamshire. 

Contract/Hours: Permanent Full-time - 37 hours per week.

About the Service:

We are Bucks Activity Project, one of over 400 services in the Action for Children family. We are passionate about providing community short breaks to children with disabilities and additional needs for children aged 0-19. We provide activities and sessions on Saturdays, school holidays and in our evening youth clubs. Our aim is to give every child customised opportunity to have fun, build skills and promote independence at their pace, underpinned by a welcoming, responsive, and skilled administrative team that supports our staff, families, and partners.

About the role

As a Children's Services Worker, you will be working inside a team delivering interventions to children and young people in a group setting, with appropriate direction. 

You will be supported to make a difference by not only providing personal care but encouraging the children and young people to access a wide range of activities to meet their individual needs and interests including arts and crafts, sensory play, cooking, team games, outdoor play, enhancing life skills. 

You will also be engaging, having fun, and interacting with children and young people that take part in activities in the local community such as climbing, water sports, go karting and visits to local farms and parks.

This role has a typical work pattern of Tuesday – Saturday (9.00-17.00) with one shift per week and Tuesday or Thursday (13.30 to 21.15) with 1 weekend off in 5.

• Support the safety, wellbeing, and development of children and young people. 

• Deliver engaging activities and sessions that meet individual needs. 

• Record and monitor outcomes for children. 

• Build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals. 

• Work collaboratively with Team Leaders and colleagues to provide high-quality support. 

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by listening to and acting on feedback from children, parents, and professionals. 

• Support children to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential. 

• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Let’s Talk about you

• Level 2 or 3 in Early Years qualification recognised by OFSTED or willingness to work toward it

• Experience working with children and young people, either professionally, voluntarily, or through personal caring responsibilities. 

• Knowledge and understanding of disabilities and additional needs. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• A positive, caring, and child-focused approach. 

• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles. 

• Access to your own transport and willingness to travel across Buckinghamshire (mileage paid).
