We are recruiting for an experienced Civils Foreman to join a major power infrastructure construction project. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising civil construction activities while driving an exceptional health, safety and quality culture across site. The successful candidate will lead site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and programme requirements. This role is ideal for an individual who leads by example, promotes best practice and is committed to achieving a zero-harm working environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate all day-to-day civil construction activities across the project.
* Lead teams carrying out earthworks, reinforced concrete works, drainage, ducting, foundations and associated civil infrastructure.
* Promote and champion a positive health and safety culture, ensuring safe systems of work are followed at all times.
* Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks and task-specific safety discussions.
* Ensure all works are completed in accordance with approved RAMS, permits to work and project procedures.
* Identify hazards, implement control measures and intervene immediately where unsafe acts or conditions are identified.
* Carry out regular site inspections and safety observations, ensuring housekeeping standards remain high.
* Coordinate subcontractors and monitor productivity, workmanship and programme delivery.
* Ensure quality inspections are completed and works comply with drawings, specifications and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
* Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and HSE Advisors to resolve site issues and drive continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress reports.
* Support client inspections, audits and project handovers.
Essential Experience
* Proven experience as a Civils Foreman on major infrastructure, energy or heavy civil engineering projects.
* Strong background supervising reinforced concrete, drainage, earthworks and foundation works.
* Demonstrable commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice.
* Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction specifications.
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Essential Qualifications
* SMSTS (preferred) or SSSTS.
* CSCS Gold or Black Card.
* First Aid at Work.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
* Experience on transmission projects.
* Temporary Works Supervisor.
* CPCS or NPORS Plant Supervisor qualification.
* IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
