Civils/Piling Construction Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Civils / Piling Construction Manager to join an established onshore construction team working on a major UK engineering project.

You’ll take responsibility for the safe, efficient and structured delivery of civils and piling activities, with a particular focus on early works and ensuring construction is delivered in line with project specifications, schedules and HSE requirements.

The Role As Civils / Piling Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing construction activities on site, managing contractors and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the delivery of civils and piling construction activities in line with project schedules, specifications and procedures.

Implementing and monitoring HSE requirements, ensuring contractor compliance with the Construction HSE Management Plan.

Managing the mobilisation and demobilisation of construction resources.

Ensuring personnel are suitably qualified, competent and compliant with project requirements.

Reviewing construction processes, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring recommendations are implemented.

Ensuring compliance with Management of Change (MOC) processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Supporting execution plan readiness and identifying and mitigating construction risks.

Reviewing contractor Quality Assurance and Inspection Plans.

Managing company inspection, monitoring and hold points.

Inspecting works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

Identifying deficiencies and managing the close-out of non-conformance reports.

Providing input into project schedules and reviewing contractor progress reports.

Working closely with construction planners, contractors and wider project stakeholders.

Supporting the management of commercial and contractual matters associated with EPCM projects.

Reviewing and assessing construction methodologies, working conditions, hazards and environmental considerations.

Ensuring compliance with relevant UK construction and safety legislation, including CDM, COSHH and permit-to-work requirements.

Reviewing and approving method statements where required.

Supporting implementation of the Construction Safety Plan.

Providing guidance and training to members of the construction team.

About You
The successful Civils / Piling Construction Manager will have significant experience working within engineering construction, ideally with a strong background in civils, piling or early works.

You will have:

HNC or equivalent in an engineering-related discipline, or a relevant trade apprenticeship with appropriate technical qualifications.

ECITB Temporary Works qualification or equivalent.

CSCS Gold Card or higher.

Current SMSTS qualification.

Proven management experience within the Engineering Construction Industry.

Demonstrable experience in a similar Construction Manager or senior construction role.

Extensive knowledge of construction processes, site delivery and construction management practices.

Strong understanding of project management systems and construction procedures.

Experience managing contractors and construction teams.

Good understanding of EPCM project environments and commercial/contractual considerations.

Strong knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation, including CDM, COSHH and permit-to-work systems.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational abilities.

A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.

The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider project team.

A delivery-focused approach with a commitment to achieving project and company objectives.

The ability and willingness to support the development and training of construction personnel.
