Job Description - Claims Consultant

Claims Consultant

  • Location: Watford
  • Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm
  • Salary: £25,000 p/annum + benefits

Join our client, a fast-growing specialist health insurance business as a Claims Consultant. This role is integral to delivering high-quality customer service throughout the claims journey, reporting directly to the Member & Employee Services Manager.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assess and authorise claims via telephone, post, and e-mail.
  • Provide follow-up support for existing claims and written confirmation of claims decisions and notifications.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines and regulatory requirements including data protection, business security, conduct risk, consumer duty, and fraud & anti-money laundering.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients by phone and in written form.
  • Attend regular review meetings and appraisals to monitor progress and identify training needs.
  • Suggest improvements to processes to enhance efficiency and customer service excellence.
  • Build professional relationships and foster team spirit with peers and colleagues.
  • Support team members with training and collaborate to achieve team goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ customer service experience.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and communication skills, with the ability to use concise, clear, and appropriate language.
  • Excellent organisational skills; ability to manage multiple demands.
  • Empathetic, with the ability to identify, understand, and respond to different views.
  • Proactive approach with a ‘can-do’ mentality and the ability to respond well under pressure.
  • Teamwork and cooperation; must work well as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance obligations relevant to the role.
