Job Description: Cleaner 1 month contract with local authority

Summary

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks, including:
  
  
  
  • Emptying waste bins
    
  
  
  • Vacuuming carpets
    
  
  
  • Dusting and damp wiping surfaces
    
  
  
  • Floor cleaning and maintenance
    
  
  
  • Cleaning washrooms and replenishing supplies
    
  
  


• Safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor maintenance machinery.
  


• Address emergency cleaning situations, including floods or spills, and safely clean bodily fluids in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  


• Communicate effectively with the designated site representative and other cleaning staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
  


• Maintain accurate records and ensure all cleaning documentation and administrative systems are up to date.
  

• Experience:
  
  
  
  • Previous cleaning experience in a school, public sector, or similar environment (desirable).
    
  
  
  • Experience using cleaning equipment and machinery safely.
    
  
  
  • Experience working to health and safety standards.
    
  
  

• Qualifications:
  
  
  
  • No formal qualifications required; however, relevant cleaning or health & safety training is advantageous.
    
  
  
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (essential).
    
  
  

• Knowledge & Skills:
  
  
  
  • Understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
    
  
  
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including safe handling of hazardous materials.
    
  
  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    
  
  
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
    
  
  
  • Good communication skills.
    
  
  

• Working hours: 12.5 hours per week.
