Cleaner / Porter – Temporary Accommodation

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaner / Porter to join the Housing team and help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety across the Council’s Temporary Accommodation (TA) hostels and communal areas.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake daily cleaning of hostels, communal areas, kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, offices and other amenities.

*

Use appropriate cleaning methods and equipment to maintain high standards of hygiene.

*

Assist with maintaining Health & Safety standards across hostel facilities.

*

Report defects, misuse of equipment and other issues to the appropriate team.

*

Assist with accessing, clearing and cleaning vacant rooms, including moving furniture and belongings.

*

Complete room inventories and help ensure vacant accommodation is promptly prepared for new residents.

*

Work closely with colleagues across Housing and other Council services to provide an effective, joined-up service.

Respond appropriately to residents' needs and contribute to excellent customer service.

About You

You will be a dependable and practical individual with good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining clean, safe and welcoming accommodation.

You should have:

Experience in cleaning, portering, caretaking or a similar environment.

*

Good awareness of Health & Safety and hygiene standards.

*

The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

*

A flexible and proactive approach to practical tasks.

*

Good communication and customer service skills.

*

The ability to work respectfully with residents, including vulnerable individuals.

*

A willingness to undertake a range of duties to support the effective operation of the service.

Mandatory: Must have a UK Passport or a Full Right to Work in the UK
