Diversity, equality, and inclusion
At Action for Children, we're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic, and disabled candidates as they are under-represented within Action for Children. We want to take deliberate and purposeful action to ensure equal opportunity to all groups in society and for the Action for Children family.
A bit about the service:
At Rowan Tree House, we’re doing something truly different.
This is a forever home for a young adult with learning disabilities, complex psychological needs and behaviour’s that challenge, requiring a trauma informed approach, based on the RELATE model. Rather than preparing for the next placement, we’re creating a home for life one built on stability, consistency, compassion and meaningful relationships.
Our ambition is to provide the right therapeutic support so this young adult can flourish, build independence at their own pace and remain connected to their community as they transition into adulthood. You’ll be joining a highly committed, multi-disciplinary team internal to Action for Children alongside an equally committed external team of multi-agency professionals where every professional plays a vital role in creating lasting positive outcomes.
A bit about the role
As our Clinical Psychologist, you’ll be the dedicated psychological lead for Rowan Tree House, shaping the therapeutic approach for both the young adult and the team around them.
Working closely with the Rowan Tree House Leadership Team, residential colleagues, mother and external professionals, you’ll provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, training workshops and intervention, ensuring care is evidence-based, person-centred and focused on improving quality of life.
You’ll lead on Positive Behaviour Support, undertake functional behaviour assessments, develop and review PBS plans, and translate complex clinical formulations into practical strategies that empower the staff team to provide exceptional care every day.
This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll coach and develop colleagues through clinical supervision, reflective practice, hands-on modelling and specialist training. You’ll also contribute to risk management, Multi-Disciplinary Reviews, all focused on the best interests of the young adult service evaluation and continuous improvement, helping to reduce restrictive practices while promoting positive outcomes in line with best practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference—not only to one remarkable young adults’s life, but also to shape an innovative, therapeutic service where psychology is embedded into everything we do.
