Cromwell Hospital, Kensington SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)
Permanent
Full time 37.5 hours p/w Monday to Saturday, plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available
Salary from £51,490 to £58,000 depending on experience.

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

To be directly accountable for the operational management of the Recovery and Anaesthetics team, to lead the team, taking day to day responsibility for ensuring the delivery of an efficient, effective, and safe patient service. To be responsible for staffing arrangements, management of theatre lists, use of resources (supplies & equipment), staff compliance to policies and procedures, teaching and induction of staff and professional practice. The role will be 70/30 clinical to non-clinical activities.

What you’ll do:
Assist the Clinical Service Manager with operational requirements in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey whilst instilling a culture of customer service throughout the theatre team.
Responsible for providing consistent, clear, clinical, and professional leadership for all staff.
Act as a mentor for Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Theatre Support Workers and Theatre Porters demonstrating professional awareness and accountability in care.
Develop, implement and update policies, guidelines & protocols for the management of patients within the peri-operative setting.
To lead the team and act as an effective role model, providing excellent quality of care for patients and to act as an expert resource & knowledge base for colleagues.
To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of, or as delegated by the Clinical Service Manager
Ensure that the “5 Steps to Safer Surgery” initiative including the WHO Surgical Safety checklists are performed and adhered to.
Proactively plan ahead by checking through anticipated theatre operating lists and identify any issues arising, identifying specific instrumentation or equipment loan requirements.
Maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised by theatre staff.

What you’ll bring:
RN 1st level registration Adult or Children
ODP Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Perioperative Practice
Teaching/assessing qualification.
ENB 176/183/182 or equivalent
Must have a current ALS or EPALS certificate or willing to work towards in the first 6 months in post
Post registration experience in Perioperative Department
Evidence of continuous professional development.
NMC or HCPC registered
