CMM Operator/Quality Inspector

CMM Operator / Quality Inspector - Up to £45k -South East London

A well established engineering and manufacturing company is looking for an experienced CMM Operator / Quality Inspector to join their quality team.

This is a varied, hands on role with a mixture of CMM operation and general quality inspection. You will spend part of your time carrying out CMM inspections and programming, with the rest of the role covering dimensional inspection, quality checks, non-conformances and working with production and engineering to resolve issues.

Main duties of the CMM Operator/Quality Inspector -

* Carry out CMM inspections and create inspection programmes and reports

* Complete dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, height gauges and other measuring equipment

* Inspect incoming materials, components and finished products

* Complete first article inspections and quality records

* Identify and deal with non conforming parts

* Monitor production quality and tolerances

* Support root cause investigations and corrective actions

* Inspect customer returns where required

* Maintain inspection equipment and records

* Work with production and engineering to resolve quality issues

* Support supplier quality and continuous improvement

Experience required of the CMM Operator/Quality Inspector -

* At least 3 years recent experience in a manufacturing quality inspection role

* Strong and recent CMM experience including programming

* Good general metrology skills

* Able to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T

* Experience with non conformances and root cause analysis

* Good IT skills and able to produce quality documentation

* High attention to detail

* Able to work independently and take responsibility for quality decisions

* Good communication skills

The role involves inspecting small components so good eyesight, colour vision and manual dexterity are required.
