Salary £25 - £30 per hour (depending on experience)

What does the role involve?

EMBS Engineering is in partnership with a precision engineering company located in Northampton that is a leading specialist in the manufacturing of precision-engineered components. Due to our client's increased workload, they are looking to expand their inspection department and are therefore looking for a CMM Programmer to join their growing team and support with new and exciting projects.



Located at their site in Northampton, you will be working alongside talented engineers on modern, up to date machinery, testing yourself against challenging intricate parts and materials. As a CMM Programmer you will be responsible for writing and proving out programs for CMM machines. You will support the quality functions required within the role including manual inspection and non conformance reports to ensure detailed inspection of precision components in line with customer and industry specifications, ensuring component conformity. 



 Responsibilities will include;

• Offline programming to create CMM programs using PC-DMIS software


• Create adequate manufacturing instructions for operators to understand and follow


• Liaison with other departments such as manufacturing, quality, engineering, and sales to ensure delivery of conforming products


• Read and interpret engineering drawings.


• Design and create fixturing

What experience do you need for this CMM Programmer role?

• Strong quality inspection background


• Apprentice trained or time served within engineering 


• Understanding of different manufacturing processes


• Experience with Offline Programming using PC-DMIS Software


• Ability to perform inspection activities (both visual and dimensional) using manual measuring equipment


• Experience of carrying out First off and Final Inspection 


• Confidence identifying non-confirming products 


• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings


• Understanding of ASME standards and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)


• Strong attention to detail


• Good communications skills and the ability to work well within a team

Understanding of the following would be highly advantageous;

• AS9100 & ISO9001 Standards


• IPI visual FAIR


• 3D Scanners / Romer Arm


• CAD modelling via CATIA
