CNC EDM Machinist

Role: CNC EDM Machinist

Location: Farlington
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Overtime: Available at time and a half

My client is recruiting for an experienced CNC EDM Machinist to join their busy engineering and manufacturing business.

This is a varied, hands-on machining role that would suit an experienced CNC Machinist, Toolmaker or EDM Machinist with a strong background in precision engineering.

The key requirement is hands on experience with both Wire EDM and Die Sink/Spark EDM, alongside a broader CNC machining background.

Responsibilities:

Setting, programming and operating Wire EDM and Die Sink/Spark EDM machines
Setting and operating CNC/semi-CNC machinery
Producing one-off and precision components and tooling
Programming directly at the machine
Working from detailed engineering drawings
Carrying out your own inspection and quality checks
Reverse engineering components and tooling where required
Using mathematics, geometry and trigonometry to calculate dimensions and machining requirements
Monitoring machine condition and carrying out basic maintenance and troubleshooting
Managing your own workload and taking jobs through from setup to completion

Skills and experience:

Essential:

Previous hands-on experience with Wire EDM
Previous hands-on experience with Die Sink/Spark EDM
CNC machining experience
Ability to set, programme and operate machinery
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Ability to carry out own inspection and quality checks
Good mathematical and geometric understanding
Ability to work independently and manage your own workloadDesirable:

Toolmaking and hand-fitting experience
Surface or cylindrical grinding experience
CNC/semi-CNC turning experience
Experience with XYZ Proturn or similar machinery
Reverse engineering experience
Experience working with precision tooling or one-off components
