The Company
An established precision engineering manufacturer with over 20 years of industry experience, producing high-quality machined components for a range of demanding engineering sectors.
Working from a modern facility, the business has invested heavily in advanced CNC technology, CAD/CAM software and inspection equipment, allowing the team to manufacture everything from complex prototypes to small batch production. With a reputation built on quality, precision and reliability, they continue to grow through long-term customer partnerships and investment in their people.
Due to continued expansion and a strong order book, they are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller to join their skilled machining team.
The Position
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller who enjoys producing complex precision components rather than repetitive production work. You'll be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines, taking components from raw material through to finished inspection while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
* Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
* Producing one-off and small batch precision components
* Using Edgecam CAD/CAM software
* Working with Heidenhain and/or Haas controls
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Manufacturing components to tight tolerances
* Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment
* Completing routine machine maintenance and daily checks
* Working to production deadlines whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards
* Supporting continuous improvement within the machining department
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a skilled CNC Miller with experience working within a precision engineering environment and a passion for producing quality components.
Applicants should have:
* Experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
* Edgecam CAD/CAM experience
* Knowledge of Heidenhain and/or Haas controls
* Ability to read engineering drawings
* Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances
* Confidence using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges
* A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience within aerospace, motorsport, rail, defence or other precision engineering sectors would be advantageous.
Licence/Certification Required
The following would be beneficial:
* Apprentice trained or time-served CNC Machinist
* NVQ / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing
* Edgecam programming experience
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing
