CNC Sliding Head Operator

CNC Recruitment is seeking an experienced Sliding Head Machine Operator & Setter for a precision engineering and manufacturing environment in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist with experience in sliding head machining and direct ISO programming. The successful candidate will play an important role in producing precision-machined components to customer drawings and specifications, maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and efficiency. Experience working with PTFE or other engineered plastics would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

* Set and operate sliding head CNC machines to manufacture precision components.

* Undertake direct ISO programming and make programme adjustments where required.

* Interpret, edit and troubleshoot Fanuc G-code and M-code.

* Read and work accurately from engineering drawings and customer specifications.

* Monitor production processes to ensure components meet required tolerances and quality standards.

* Carry out inspections and quality checks throughout production.

* Identify and report machining issues, faults or non-conforming components.

* Ensure machinery, tooling and equipment are used safely and correctly.

* Follow relevant health and safety procedures, ISO requirements and company quality standards.

* Work efficiently to meet production targets and delivery deadlines.

Essential Requirements

* Previous experience setting and operating sliding head CNC machines.

* Proven experience of direct ISO programming.

* Ability to interpret and edit Fanuc G-code and M-code.

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

* A responsible approach to health and safety.

Desirable Experience

* Citizen sliding head machine experience.

* Haas CNC machine experience.

* Experience machining PTFE or other engineered plastics.

* A time-served craft apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.

Working Hours

* Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm.

* Friday: 8:00am–3:30pm.

* 38 hours per week, working days.

* Overtime available.
