Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Lathe Setter Operator to join a leading global manufacturer within the Life Sciences sector based in Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering team where you will play a key role in setting, proving out and operating CNC/NC lathe machinery, producing precision components to exact specifications.

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week.
Rotating shift pattern:
Week 1: 6am-2pm.
Week 2: 2pm-10pm.
Occasional night shifts may be required to meet business demands.

Key Duties

Set and operate CNC/NC lathe machinery.
Prove out new and existing CNC programmes.
Programme and set machines using Fanuc or similar controls.
Manufacture precision components to engineering specifications.
Read and interpret engineering drawings.
Carry out self-inspection using measuring equipment.
Record production activities accurately within internal scheduling systems.
Report production issues to Team Leaders.
Maintain high housekeeping standards through daily 5S activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the machine shop.

Requirements

Previous experience setting and operating CNC/NC lathes.
Ability to prove out new CNC programmes.
Strong knowledge of Fanuc or similar controls.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Competence in self-inspection and quality checking using measuring equipment.
Experience machining stainless steel components.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Flexible and proactive approach to work.Desirable:

Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
Experience working within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
