We're looking for a Coffee Shop Assistant Manager to join a well-established and welcoming hospitality business in Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced supervisor or team leader who enjoys being hands-on, developing a team and creating a great experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll help keep the coffee shop running smoothly while supporting and developing the team.

Support the Coffee Shop Manager with the daily running of the coffee shop

Lead by example, motivating the team to deliver friendly and consistent customer service

Take responsibility for the operation when the Manager is away

Support with rotas, staffing levels and day-to-day team organisation

Coach and develop team members, helping them build confidence and product knowledge

Assist with recruitment, inductions and training

Maintain high standards across food, drink, cleanliness and presentation

Support with stock control, ordering and reducing waste

Handle customer queries and resolve any issues professionally

Assist with cash handling and end-of-day procedures

Ensure food safety, health & safety and company standards are consistently followed

Provide hands-on support during busy services and lead the team from the front

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and is ready to take the next step in their hospitality career.

Previous experience within a café, coffee shop, hospitality or similar customer-focused environment

At least one year's experience in a supervisory, team leader or senior position

A genuine passion for great customer service

Confident leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team

Strong communication and organisational skills

A positive, proactive and hands-on approach

Comfortable working in a busy environment and remaining calm under pressure

Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety

Experience with tills, cash handling and basic computer systems

Flexibility to work weekends and during busier seasonal periods
