Combustion Service Engineer (Manufacturer) – Overview
We are currently working with one of the longest trading combustion manufacturers in the world who are looking for 2 x Service Engineers to join their team in the Midlands. The company have been operating in the UK for over 60 years and are the UK arm of a global burner and combustion manufacturer. They have gone through an immense transformation in the past few years, a large part of which focused on improving the scheduling of jobs, back office support and the training provided to their field engineers.
You would be joining an established team of 4 in the Midlands region. They have a service engineering team of 22 Engineers working across the UK however they split it down into regions – Scotland, North England, Midlands, South England. For the first 3-6 months of your role, you will be given extensive training on their full range of burners and combustion systems, you may also be sent to Germany to complete training there too. Not only that, but they will work with you to identify any areas you would like to train on, whether than be controls, steam or any other part of your trade that you are interested in.
Day to day, you will travel to client sites in the Food & Beverage industry, Pharmaceutical, Energy from Waste, Manufacturing and Healthcare to carry out routine servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on their range of burners and combustion systems. You will average just one job per day and they have gone to great efforts to ensure their scheduling is one of the best the industry has to offer. They have a very even split of engineers across the area and will always ensure you are sent to the site as close to home as possible.
They do operate a call out rota in the area which will stand at 1-in-5 once you start. It’s a bit different from most call out rota’s. You do hold the phone for the week so you will attend site unless another Engineer who is closer can go instead. That way everyone helps each other out! If you are called out to a site overnight, you will not work the next day, you are simply given it off to recover and whatever job you had booked in, they will move.
You get £250 for holding the phone for the week, plus £160 per call out you attend.
