Commercial Accountant

Are you a proactive, self-starting finance professional with a passion for driving change? Our client is looking for a commercially minded and detail-driven accountant to join their finance team in a newly created role. This is a fantastic opportunity to stamp your own mark on the role by shaping and enhancing financial processes, particularly around weekly reporting.

Working closely with the MD you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely weekly financial insights that support operational decision-making and strategic planning. Working closely with commercial and operational teams, you’ll help drive performance visibility and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Weekly Financial Reporting:

• Produce and deliver weekly financial reports, including profit and loss summaries, margin analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time financial insights.
• Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.

Process Ownership & Improvement:

• Take ownership of reporting processes and proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Implement new processes and reporting frameworks to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and insight.
• Drive automation and standardisation of financial reporting.

Business Partnering:

• Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to understand financial drivers and support business decisions.
• Present financial insights and recommendations in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.

Forecasting & Budgeting:

• Assist in the preparation of rolling forecasts and annual budgets.
• Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to evaluate the financial impact of business initiatives.

Compliance & Controls:

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
