BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment is seeking a proactive and motivated Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team in Northern England. Playing a key role in supporting and enhancing commercial performance while delivering major civil engineering projects, you’ll bring a keen eye, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Your team

• The role will be a hybrid role ( min 3 days per week)  based from our Mikasa House Office in Newcastle, with a requirement to visit projects and site offices across the North East. 

Making Possible

As a Commercial Assistant, you will support the commercial team in maintaining effective cost control and reporting ensuring costs are allocated correctly and processes are followed in a consistent manner. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Assist with the monthly cost and value reconciliation supplying requested information such as material and plant accruals


• Input into our cost collation systems


• Processing subcontractor payments and clearing bought ledger invoices in line with agreed terms


• Producing cost-monitoring reports and analysing exception data


• Gathering and collating commercial data for internal and external reporting


• Managing allocation sheets, records, and the document filing system


• Participating in meetings and training sessions


• Using MS Office and other software for word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations


• Supporting wider commercial functions as required


• Ensuring compliance with company and project commercial procedures

What do you bring to the role?

• 
  

  English and Maths GCSE or equivalent

  
  


• 
  

  Previous experience in a similar role or construction industry is desirable but not essential.

  Strong organisational skills, diligence, and motivation to learn

  
  


• 
  

  A keen interest in the construction industry and commercial functions.

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Proficiency in IT, especially MS Office tools.
