Commercial / Contracts Manager – Engineering / Manufacturing We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing engineering and manufacturing business based near Ipswich, who are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial / Contracts Manager. This is a hands-on commercial role, working closely with the Managing Director and teams across Sales, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Operations and Finance. The role will suit someone who enjoys being involved in the detail, can spot commercial risks early and is confident managing contracts, pricing, margins and customer relationships. As Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial side of a range of bespoke engineering projects, from the initial tender and pricing stage through to delivery and completion. Key Responsibilities * Managing and maintaining the sales forecast, ensuring it is accurate and up to date. * Reviewing pricing, margins, payment terms and commercial risks. * Managing stock levels in line with business requirements and sales forecasts. * Negotiating terms with customers, suppliers and subcontractors. * Ensuring a smooth commercial handover from sales into project delivery. * Monitoring project margins, cash flow, variations, claims and invoicing. * Reviewing completed projects to understand final margins, performance and lessons learned. * Ensuring contracts, commercial records and notices are properly maintained. * Identifying commercial risks and helping to resolve issues before they become problems. * Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Operations and Finance. * Providing clear commercial updates and reports to the Managing Director and senior team. About You We are looking for someone with previous commercial or contracts management experience, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing, marine, energy or capital equipment environment. You will ideally have experience of Project-based contracts and commercial management / Tender pricing and margin control / Cash flow and commercial forecasting / Managing variations, changes and contractual claims / Negotiating with customers, suppliers and subcontractors. A qualification in Commercial, Contracts, Legal, Business or Engineering would be useful, but practical experience and the right commercial approach are equally important. Experience within engineering manufacturing, power generation, export or international trade would be advantageous, but is not essential. Hours & Benefits Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm (37.5 hours per week).
