Job Description - Commercial Finance Analyst

Commercial Finance Analyst – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Based in Burton on Trent (Hybrid Working)

Join a values-driven organisation where innovation meets impact. We’re supporting a leading business in their search for a talented Finance Analyst to join on a 12-month fixed-term contract. If you're passionate about continuous improvement, insightful reporting, and making a difference in a fast-paced environment — this is the role for you.

You’ll be part of a business that puts well-being, inclusivity, and integrity at the core of everything they do. With exciting transformation underway, this role offers a brilliant opportunity to add real value through financial insight and collaboration.

The Purpose of the Role:
You’ll take ownership of the production P&L reporting across multiple business entities, ensuring accurate retail margin tracking and uncovering cost-saving or revenue-generating opportunities. This is a key role supporting strategic goals during a period of operational and financial transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Close: Lead the end-to-end month-end process, including journal posting, inter-company reconciliation, Capex and accruals reviews.
  • P&L & Margin Analysis: Manage, analyse, and enhance production P&Ls across entities.
  • Reporting & Insights: Deliver timely and insightful reporting to support business decisions.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with finance, production, and distribution to support accurate cost analysis and commentary.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Ensure timely, accurate, and audit-ready reconciliations with clear justifications.
  • Purchasing & Cost Control: Monitor purchasing adherence and promote best practice across teams.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Support financial planning, taking ownership of specific department budgets.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiency in financial reporting and support continuous improvement initiatives across the network.

About You:

  • Open to qualified, part-qualified or QBE finance professionals.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a finance analyst or management accountant role (preferably in production, manufacturing, or sourcing environments).
  • Proficiency in managing month-end close, journal entries, and reporting processes.
  • Strong analytical mindset and the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights.
  • A proactive approach to improving financial processes and uncovering commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working cross-functionally.

Location:
This role is based in Burton on Trent, with a hybrid working model (two days per week in-office). With travel to another local site.

If you’re a detail-driven, improvement-focused finance professional looking to make a meaningful contribution — this 12-month role offers the challenge and support you need to thrive.
