Commercial Manager

Your new company
Your new company is a leading engineering and construction firm specialising in the delivery of schemes including Groundworks, Civil Engineering, Highways, Landscaping and Utilities. The company is looking for a Commercial Manager to join the team in Bristol. This position will suit a candidate in a Commercial Manager role with a Civil Sub-Contractor, or a Senior / Managing QS looking to take the next step in their career.

Your new role
The ideal candidate will oversee all commercial and financial aspects of the company's projects, ensuring profitability, compliance, and client satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

• Manage all commercial activities, including contracts, cost control, and procurement.
• Oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements and client contracts.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
• Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors and other commercial staff.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers

What you'll need to succeed

• A proven track record in commercial management within the civil engineering or construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contracts, including NEC, ICE and JCT.
• Proven work history with a Civil Sub-Contractor.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• A commercial mindset with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Relevant qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, or a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Leadership qualities and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
