Job Description - Commercial Manager

SF Recruitment have partnered with an established organisation in Birmingham City Centre (moving to Birmingham International alter this year) who are looking to recruit a Commercial Manager from a food retail background.

Job Title: Commercial Manager
Function: Manufacturing
Location: Birmingham (relocating to Birmingham International)
Salary: £50k-£60k +car allowance

Commercial function overview

We are seeking a commercially driven and results-oriented Commercial Manager to oversee and grow our branded retail partnerships with major food retailers. This role is pivotal in driving profitable sales, developing joint business plans, managing key customer relationships, and ensuring alignment between our food manufacturing operations, brand management and retailer needs. You will play a critical role in shaping strategy, leading negotiations, and influencing internal teams to deliver excellent service and product innovation.

Principal Accountabilities

- Lead the day-to-day management of key accounts, ensuring sales targets, service levels, and margin objectives are met.
- Build and nurture strong working relationships with buyers and category teams to secure long-term partnerships and business growth.
- Develop and execute commercial strategies that drive volume, value, and profitability across designated accounts.
- Lead pricing negotiations, promotional planning, and annual trading agreements to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Work with internal demand planning and supply chain teams to ensure accurate sales forecasts and delivery performance.
- Analyse sales data, shopper trends, and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and inform product and promotional decisions.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, and technical teams to deliver innovative, customer-focused food solutions.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, influencing production, quality, logistics, and finance teams to deliver customer requirements.
- Regularly report on account performance, commercial KPIs, profitability, and risks/opportunities.
