Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercial manager based in Derby, this role involves drafting, negotiating, amending and agreeing proposal and contract documentation, as allocated by VP – Commercial, in accordance and in compliance with company/sector specific processes. You will work with Sales to develop the value analysis and proposition of guarantees, warranties and service structures during the sales campaign and contracting phases. You will instruct new business on all contract commitments and complete a full handover of new business with Regional Customer Teams and GC Commercial Management Team.
What you will be doing:
- Working as part of an Integrated Campaign Team (ICT), to provide commercial input to the development of the sales strategy, identifying value though commercial structures, service levels and guarantees.
- To work with Sales to identify and value campaign-specific competitive advantages / disadvantages of RR service structures/service levels/guarantees. This includes running sensitivity models (using standard and approved tools) and working with the Business Evaluations Operations and Capability teams, as appropriate.
- To provide advice on how to make best use of guarantees and TotalCare structure in the campaign and contracting phases. This to include providing an explanation of service and guarantee components and logic to both the ICT and the Customer to ensure that the Customer ascribes full value for Rolls-Royce offerings within its evaluation.
- To work with Sales to influence the Customer to select Rolls-Royce’s preferred service structures, service levels and guarantees that provide greatest competitive advantage to Rolls-Royce and minimise the impact of identified competitive disadvantages, using Customer perspective modelling, where applicable.
- Support or lead, where appropriate, the drafting, negotiating and amendment of allocated proposals and contracts in accordance with all relevant processes.
- To provide support to VP - Commercial with internal approvals, elements of drafting and discussion and coordination of inputs from subject matter experts.
- Coach, lead or support the ICT during the sales and contracting phase.
- Identify and assess potential risks and liabilities and propose and negotiate amendments to manage, minimise or mitigate such risks in discussion with other stakeholders.
- To feedback experiences from sales and contract negotiation activities and proactively contribute to, as required, the development of policies, services and guarantees and precedent documentation based on lessons learned.
- To instruct new business agreements, gain commitment acceptance and then handover to the Regional Customer Teams and GC Commercial Management Team.
- Interface with a wide variety of specialist teams, both within and external to the company, to obtain advice and guidance. To evaluate such advice and develop pragmatic risk-based solutions to complex, multi-dimensional issues to meet customer/supplier and business requirements.
- Deliver and support continuous improvement initiatives, both as part of the General Counsel function and as part of our business teams.
Preferred requirements:
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Well-developed interpersonal, diplomacy, communication, influencing and negotiations skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems while maintaining customer focus.
- Highly motivated and capable of working under own initiative or in a team environment.
- Sound business acumen.
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet demanding deadlines.
- Experience of influencing at all levels across an organisation.
