16 months fixed term contract, with potential to be extended
The Company
Warwick HR has an excellent opportunity for a Commercial and Operations Manager, based in Warwick. Our client is a thriving attraction in the centre of Warwick, welcoming visitors to look around one of the most striking and picturesque collection of timber framed medieval buildings in the country, explore the stories of Elizabethan England, find out more about the history of their unique community, or just relax in the beautiful walled garden. There are regular events and activities to enjoy, alongside a café, shop and private hire opportunities. The resident Brethren play an active part in welcoming visitors alongside staff and volunteers.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
To lead on the development and delivery of plans to grow visitor revenue, through admissions and secondary spend within the café and shop, ensuring customer service standards and income targets are met.
To lead on the development and delivery of plans to grow income from commercial operations, for example weddings and venue hire.
To monitor visitor numbers and earned revenue against budget, taking appropriate action to ensure goals are met.
To manage the collection and analysis of visitor research, data and analytics for marketing and evaluation work.
To negotiate and manage contracts and relationships with suppliers, including the sub contracted café and catering offer.
To manage the day-to-day supervision, development and deployment of visitor services and commercial staff and volunteers as appropriate. This includes organising staff rotas, managing staff delivery and ensuring all posts, positions and functions of the organisation are adequately resourced on a daily basis.
To work closely with the Marketing and PR Consultant and the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator to effectively promote the site as an attraction and for venue hire.
To have overall responsibility for the implementation of the Garden Maintenance Plan, alongside the Grounds and Garden Manager, and the whole site Maintenance and Management Plan.
To exercise effective stock control and maintain necessary records.
To ensure all relevant food safety and licensing requirements are met and appropriate records kept.
To be the fire and health and safety lead, undertaking necessary training to undertake the task, and ensure familiarity with all of the organisation's health and safety policies and procedures.
To support and deputise for the Master, including to step in as the representative for the organisation at external events and formal functions.
To develop networks and relationships with other organisations and individuals at a local, regional and national level.
The Person
You will have :
An appropriate level of experience managing a commercial operation, preferably within a charity, heritage or leisure environment.
Demonstrable record of leading high performing teams including performance management, team building and coaching with a focus on delivering excellent service.
Demonstrable experience of innovative supporter engagement and high levels of customer care.
Demonstratable experience in business planning, business plan writing and developing and managing budgets in heritage, leisure, or charity sectors.#
An understanding of compliance requirements relating to a visitor attraction (GDPR, Health & Safety, food safety, licensing, safeguarding, risk assessments, fire etc)
Strong people skills, enabling good working relationships with those in the team, the Brethren, residents and tenants.
Excellent influencing and negotiating skills, including diplomacy, advocacy and persuasion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public presentation.
The ability to communicate effectively and confidently with diverse groups of people of varying ages, abilities and experience.
Effective planning and prioritisation skills, with evidence of determination and creativity in setting a direction and getting others to follow.
The ability to work autonomously and have good decision-making skills.
Good IT skills (Microsoft Office) and experience of using EPOS systems.
