Commercial Project Manager - Ground Source Heat Pumps

Site-Based - UK-wide travel

Permanent | Full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Project Manager to join a growing business operating within the renewable energy sector, delivering commercial-scale ground source heat pump (GSHP) projects across the UK.

This is a varied project delivery role where you'll take responsibility for projects from handover through to completion, working alongside major Tier 1 contractors and construction partners.

Ground source heat pump experience would be highly advantageous, but it's not essential. The business is also interested in Project Managers with strong mechanical, M&E, commissioning or technical construction backgrounds who are looking to develop their career within the renewable energy sector.

The Role

You'll work closely with the Commercial Installation Manager and wider project team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, to specification and within budget.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing projects from initial handover through to completion and client handover.
Coordinating drilling, ground array, headering and cross-connection works.
Overseeing mechanical and electrical installation within plant rooms.
Coordinating commissioning and final project handover.
Managing subcontractors, suppliers and site-based teams.
Liaising with clients, Tier 1 contractors and other site stakeholders.
Monitoring project costs, budgets and margins.
Coordinating with design and estimating teams.
Managing plant and equipment procurement.
Producing and maintaining project documentation, including RAMS, reports and site records.
Ensuring projects meet required quality, health & safety and commercial standards.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Projects

Depending on the stage of the project, you'll have exposure to a broad range of activities including:

Borehole drilling and ground array installation
Thermal Response Testing
Headering and below-ground pipework
Manifold chamber installation
Electrofusion and pipework
Trenching and backfilling
Plant room mechanical installation
Heat pump and associated equipment installation
Electrical and BMS/control interfaces
Pressure and flow testing
Pre-commissioning and commissioning
Client inspections and final handover

About You

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager or similar who has worked within a commercial construction, mechanical, M&E, engineering or technical environment.

You should have:

Previous Project Management experience within a relevant technical environment.
A valid CSCS card.
Strong understanding of commercial construction environments and site health & safety.
Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers.
The ability to read drawings, specifications and technical information.
Experience managing project budgets and costs.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
A full UK driving licence.
The flexibility to travel nationally and stay away from home when required.Experience with ground source heat pumps, mechanical installations, commissioning, BMS controls or electrical interfaces would be advantageous.

Experience with systems such as Simpro, Microsoft Project, (url removed) or similar would also be beneficial.

£45,000 - £55,000 salary, depending on experience
