Job Description - Commercial Property and Business Solicitor

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Property and Business Law Solicitor to join a well respected Law Firm on the East London/Essex border. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload involving commercial property transactions and providing legal advice to businesses across a range of sectors.

The successful candidate will inherit an existing caseload with the opportunity to take over responsibility for matters currently handed by directors. The role is a senior role in the department and for the right candidate there will be opportunities for advancement in the medium term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a variety of commercial property matters, including purchases, sales, leases, and developments.
  • Advise clients on business law issues such as corporate structure, partnership agreements, shareholder agreements, and commercial contracts.
  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of legal documents with attention to legal detail and client goals.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for property and business transactions.
  • Manage client relationships professionally and proactively, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation and case law.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments on multidisciplinary projects.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with minimum 3+ years PQE in commercial property and/or business law.
  • Solid understanding of property law, company law, and commercial transactions.
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, a proactive, client-focused approach and the ability to turn around work efficiently.
  • Proven track record of regular billing and achieving fee targets.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to undertake limited amount of non-commercial property work in the event of staff absences or overflow from other departments.

Salary and Expectations

  • Salary will be performance based with a base element and bonus element tied to the achievement of individual and firm-wide goals.
