So, what does the role of a Commercial Underwriter here involve?

As a Commercial Underwriter you will work with a panel of brokers in developing and underwriting profitable, target business in line with prescribed underwriting strategies and business plans across a range of Commercial Products including Combined Liability (contracting and non-contracting) and Commercial Combined.

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities:
Underwrite and administer risks (including midterm adjustments) and issue accurate, compliant documentation on behalf of Insurers.
Demonstrate strong trading and negotiation skills in the retaining of existing business.
Achieve a high quality of underwriting and record keeping, as demonstrated through quality monitoring.
Achieve any individual targets and contribute towards team/business targets.
Contribute positively and proactively to business development and any relevant change.

What experience does a Commercial Underwriter

need?

Proven underwriting experience of Commercial Products including Commercial Combined and Combined Liability (contracting and non-contracting) and a good understanding of risk.
Experience of working within an MGA environment and an understanding of the use of binding authority guidelines and authorities would be advantageous.
A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework.
IT Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. Experience of Acturis would also be advantageous.
Ideally CII qualified or working towards.
