The Commis Chef role will support senior chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen. They will learn essential cooking techniques, food safety practices, and how to work efficiently under pressure. This will be hands-on experience, providing the skills and knowledge necessary to progress in the culinary industry. Apprenticeship Overview:

• Salary: £7.55 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on the programme for 19+ year olds


• Working week: Wednesday to Saturday 2 pm till 10 pm with a 1-hour lunch break


• Hours: 30 hours per week
  


• Duration: 19 months

We’re seeking a hardworking and reliable individual to join our small kitchen team at our busy dining pub. As part of a group of independent pubs, we focus on seasonal, locally sourced produce and offer a daily changing menu, with everything made from scratch.

Someone who's enthusiastic, focused, and determined to work in a fast-paced environment, handling both service and prep shifts. You’ll also gain valuable experience in managing food stock, preparing ingredients, and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld. A passion for high-quality, locally sourced food and an understanding of seasonal ingredients are highly valued. For the right person with a genuine love for good food, there’s potential for further training and progression within the kitchen team.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard qualification 

Each apprentice will have a dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? 

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship 

Pre-employment checks. Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment, the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - 'Matrix Screening'. The company also completes an internal online social media search, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
