About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and engaging Community Cohesion and Hate Crime Officer to lead and support work with communities, partners and stakeholders across Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by helping communities respond effectively to local challenges, building trust between diverse groups, and strengthening community resilience.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with residents, voluntary and community organisations, public sector partners and other stakeholders to deliver initiatives that promote community cohesion, active citizenship and social inclusion. You will play a key role in empowering local communities, improving access to services, challenging hate-based narratives, and supporting work that prevents extremism and promotes understanding between communities.

You will also support and facilitate partnership working across the city, helping to deliver national, local and neighbourhood priorities. By building strong relationships and coordinating effective responses to emerging issues and community tensions, you will enable partners to achieve better outcomes for Nottingham's citizens.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience and knowledge of the factors impacting on community cohesion together with a practical understanding of how local authority can influence it.

  • A sound understanding of how individuals and communities can become susceptible to radicalisation and the tools available to support them.

  • Good community engagement, development, partnership and stakeholder management skills
