Community Support Advisor

Job Description - Community Support Advisor

Outreach Advisor – Community Support

Horsham | 7-month FTC | £27,500pa equivalent

*Driving licence & own car required due to the community-based nature of the role*

Do you want to do a job that genuinely makes a difference?

Are you someone who enjoys helping people, building relationships and being part of your local community? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

We’re working with a highly reputable and well-established charity in Horsham who are looking for an Outreach Advisor to join their team on a 7-month fixed-term contract.

💚 What will you be doing?

This is a genuinely rewarding role where no two days are likely to look the same.

Rather than being office-based, you’ll be out and about across the local community, meeting residents in different settings, attending community events and talks, carrying out one-to-one appointments and, occasionally, visiting people in their own homes.

You’ll provide practical advice and support across areas such as:

Benefits and financial support

Budgeting and managing finances

Housing

Employment and accessing opportunities

Connecting people with relevant local services

You’ll take the time to understand each person’s individual circumstances, help them understand the options available to them and support them in taking positive steps forward.

A big part of the role will also be building relationships within the community - working with local charities, community groups and partner organisations to develop a strong network of support and make sure residents can access the right help when they need it.

It’s a role where you’ll meet lots of different people, build meaningful relationships and, most importantly, see the difference your support can make.

🌟 What are they looking for?

You might already have experience in advice, community support, outreach, customer service or another people-focused environment.

However, your background isn't everything. We’re looking for someone who is approachable, empathetic and genuinely wants to help others.

You'll ideally be someone who:

Enjoys meeting and supporting people from different backgrounds

Is a great listener and communicator

Can build trust and rapport quickly

Is confident providing practical advice and guidance

Is proactive and happy working out in the community

Can work independently and manage your own appointments and workload

Is organised and comfortable keeping accurate records

Most importantly, genuinely wants to make a difference to people’s lives

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required due to the community-based nature of the role.

❤️ Why this role?

If you’re passionate about helping people, this is an opportunity to do work that has real purpose.

Although this is a 7-month fixed-term contract, it’s a fantastic opportunity to build your experience within a highly reputable organisation, with potential future opportunities as the field continues to grow and develop its services.

If you’re looking for a role where you can finish the day knowing you’ve actually helped someone, this could be the opportunity for you
