Hours: Average 40 Hours Per Week
Working Pattern: Rolling 6-Week Shift Rota covering 7 days per week between 8:00am and 10:00pm
DBS: Basic DBS Required
Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence Required
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Community Warden to join our dynamic Regulatory Services team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of life in Rugby by ensuring it remains a cleaner, greener, and safer community. The position involves conducting visible patrols and enforcement activities within Rugby Town Centre, providing a reassuring presence to residents, businesses, and visitors. The Community Warden will play a crucial role in addressing anti-social behaviour, environmental crimes, and other community issues, fostering compliance with legislation, and collaborating with partner agencies to bolster community safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
Community Patrols & Enforcement
Conduct highly visible patrols across the town centre and borough.
Serve as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour.
Engage constructively with residents, businesses, and visitors.
Promote compliance with laws and encourage positive behaviour changes.
Investigate community issues and environmental violations.
Issue enforcement notices, including:
Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs)
Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs)
Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs)
Environmental Crime & Regulatory Enforcement
Investigate and address:
Littering
Fly-tipping
Dog control violations
Trade waste infractions
Anti-social behaviour
Noise and smoke nuisances
Licensing violations
Taxi rank inspections
Parking violations
Environmental crime offences
Investigation & Evidence Gathering
Collect evidence and witness statements.
Prepare detailed reports and enforcement documentation.
Maintain accurate records in line with PACE requirements.
Provide court testimony as a witness when necessary.
Support investigations and enforcement actions.
Community Safety & Public Engagement
Respond to community concerns and service requests.
Identify and report anti-social behaviour and environmental issues.
Collaborate with Warwickshire Police and partner agencies.
Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives.
Deliver a responsive frontline service to residents and businesses.
Additional Duties
Attend visits to traveller and unauthorised encampments as needed.
Collect and transport stray dogs when required.
Report environmental hazards and safety issues.
Operate Council-issued equipment, including:
Body Worn Cameras
Radios
Mobile Devices
Essential
Requirements
Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence.
Basic DBS Check.
GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence in handling conflict and challenging situations.
Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
Strong teamwork capabilities.
Proficient in computer use.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Flexible approach to working hours and responsibilities.
Good physical fitness for extensive walking and outdoor patrols.
Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Desirable
Experience in investigating environmental crime offences.
Experience in managing anti-social behaviour.
Experience in issuing enforcement notices.
Previous experience with Local Authorities.
Experience in evidence gathering and preparing legal statements.
Working Environment
Primarily outdoor role.
Patrols conducted in all weather conditions.
Includes walking, cycling, and vehicle patrols.
Shift work covering weekdays and weekends.
Potential exposure to unpleasant environments and materials.
Uniform and PPE required while on duty.
