Company Accountant

A growing SME in East Yorkshire is looking to appoint a hands-on Company Accountant to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a standalone finance lead role, supported by two transactional team members, and is ideally suited to someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and visibility across the wider business.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll be the go-to person for all things finance. Key responsibilities will include:

• Full ownership of monthly management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
  
  
• Managing and developing two accounts staff responsible for day-to-day ledger processing
  
  
• Overseeing VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions to ensure compliance with HMRC
  
  
• Acting as the main point of contact for external accountants, including year-end preparation
  
  
• Monitoring cashflow and preparing regular reports for the Directors
  
  
• Maintaining the Xero accounts system and driving efficiencies in reporting where possible
  
  
• Supporting commercial decision-making with timely financial insight
  
  

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
