Company Accountant

This no-nonsense business in Harrogate looking for a Company Accountant, not a bookkeeper, not a finance assistant with a fancy title. We mean someone who can own the numbers from end to end and help steer the ship.

You'll be hands-on, sleeves-up, and involved in everything from monthly reporting to cash flow strategy. You won't be stuck behind a spreadsheet wall. You'll be the person we look to for answers and expect you to tell us when we're being financially daft.

What you'll be doing:

• Producing accurate monthly management accounts
• Managing day-to-day finance operations (invoices, payments, bank recs, etc.)
• Owning cash flow management and forecasting
• Preparing budgets and tracking performance against them
• Handling payroll, VAT, and other HMRC bits
• Managing year-end accounts and working with external accountants/auditors
• Improving financial systems, controls, and reporting
• Providing the leadership team with real insight

What we're looking for:

• A qualified or QBE accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or just experienced and sharp)
• Experience running a finance function - solo or leading a small team
• A proactive, practical mindset - not a "wait-to-be-told" approach
• Strong Excel skills and comfortable with accounting software (Sage, Xero, etc.)
• Someone who gets the job done

This isn't a "finance business partner" role where you spend your days advising people who won't listen. It's a proper, hands-on accounting job where you'll make a visible impact fast.
