Job Description - Compliance Advisor - Insurance & Travel (Part Time)

We're looking for an exceptional Compliance Advisor to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Compliance Advisor, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise

As our Compliance Advisor you will have a responsibility to support the Met Office on issues relating to insurance. You will be expected to advise on relevant internal policy, guidance and processes.

As part of your role, you will support the Property Compliance Manager with the management of Met Office insurance and brokerage contracts. You will monitor the handling of claims and maintain accurate insurance records in support of optimum insurance cover.

An excellent team player, you will build beneficial working relationships across the business and externally with key suppliers.

As our Compliance Advisor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing insurance advice to Met Office staff, maintaining up to date information on the Met Office Insurance Comms site and responding promptly to insurance queries from colleagues.
  • Maintaining up to date information on Met Office insured assets and activities.
  • Gathering relevant information and undertaking analysis to support annual insurance renewals.
  • Managing the established claims processes to support Met Office objectives. This will include providing guidance in respect of all claims that may arise including on motor and travel policies, as well as claims arising from our interactions with the public which may involve the negotiation of appropriate compensation.
  • Maintaining and influencing internal policy and processes as they relate to travel and insurance and taking an active role in facilitating working groups such as the International Travel Audit and Policy Group.

As our Compliance Advisor, your total reward package will be up to £46,974 annually, which includes:

  • £33,794 base pay, this will be pro-rated for part time.
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%.
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

Experience of managing or working within an insurance or similar compliance process ( We're experts by nature ).Demonstrate excellent written communication skills to reach different audiences including senior management. As a team player you will have proven ability to build, maintain and influence working relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders, including some at senior level to create a positive change ( We're better together ).Ability to analyse and present insurance related information and communicate clear recommendations. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks without losing focus, to meet challenging deadlines ( We live and breathe it ).
