Compliance Manager – Governance & Operations

My client is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager – Governance & Operations to join its Group Compliance function.

This is a broad, group-level governance and compliance role within a growing and acquisitive UK insurance business. You will play a key role in supporting the development and oversight of the Group's compliance framework, working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

This is not a traditional compliance monitoring role. It is an opportunity for a governance-focused compliance professional to become a trusted adviser to the business, supporting regulatory change, SMCR, FCA engagement, operational resilience, regulatory reporting and strategic business initiatives.

The Role

As Compliance Manager – Governance & Operations, you will help ensure that regulatory obligations are effectively embedded across the Group while supporting the business to navigate regulatory change and continued growth.

Working closely with the Group Compliance Director and senior stakeholders, your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting the development and delivery of the Group Compliance Plan.

* Monitoring regulatory developments and supporting the implementation of regulatory change.

* Supporting interactions with the FCA, including coordinating responses to regulatory requests and enquiries.

* Maintaining and enhancing governance frameworks, including SMCR, Statements of Responsibilities and Responsibility Maps.

* Supporting oversight of Threshold Conditions and Adequate Resources assessments.

* Coordinating compliance involvement in key regulatory initiatives including Operational Resilience, Wind-Down Planning and Third-Party Risk Management.

* Supporting regulatory reporting and assurance activities.

* Tracking and coordinating agreed compliance actions through to completion.

* Providing compliance support to acquisitions, integration projects and wider strategic initiatives.

* Producing meaningful governance insight and reporting to support senior management decision-making.

* Providing pragmatic regulatory guidance to stakeholders across the Group.

* Helping strengthen governance, resilience and the overall effectiveness of the compliance framework.

About You

We are looking for an experienced insurance compliance professional who combines strong FCA regulatory knowledge with excellent governance and stakeholder management skills.

Your background is likely to be within insurance broking, insurance intermediaries, an MGA, Lloyd's/London Market or another FCA-regulated financial services environment.

Essential experience

Strong knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and compliance best practice.

Previous experience working within an insurance compliance function.

Strong understanding of SMCR and regulatory governance frameworks.

Experience across compliance operations, regulatory reporting, governance or regulatory change.

Ability to interpret complex regulation and translate it into clear, practical business guidance.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the confidence to work with senior leaders.

Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Sound judgement and the ability to identify regulatory risks and determine when escalation is required.

Desirable experience

CII, ICA or equivalent professional qualification.

Knowledge of Lloyd's and London Market regulatory requirements.

Experience supporting FCA interactions and regulatory submissions.

Experience with Operational Resilience, Wind-Down Planning or Third-Party Risk Management.

Experience supporting M&A, acquisitions and business integration.

Experience leading projects or cross-functional regulatory workstreams.
