Job Description - Compliance Officer

Compliance Officer – Law Firm
Location: Liverpool
Sector: Civil Litigation & Wills & Probate
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Compliance professional looking for your next opportunity within a respected law firm? Our client, a well-established practice in Liverpool, is seeking a Compliance Officer to oversee and maintain the firm’s regulatory, risk, and compliance framework across a busy caseload of Civil Litigation and Wills & Probate matters.

The Role: As Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the firm operates in full accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, managing both preventative and responsive compliance processes. Your responsibilities will include:

Acting as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) where required.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring internal compliance policies and procedures.
Managing risk assessments, audits, and file reviews.
Advising partners and staff on compliance, regulatory, and anti-money laundering requirements.
Staying up to date with legislative and regulatory changes and communicating these effectively within the firm.
Supporting ongoing training and promoting a culture of compliance and risk awareness.

About You:

Previous experience in a Compliance role within a law firm is essential.
Strong working knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations, AML, and other relevant legal frameworks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance to colleagues at all levels.
Highly organised, detail-focused, and proactive in identifying and mitigating risks.
